Abstract

perspective of Buddha and Antonio Damasio, centering on the feeling(vedanā). To this end, this paper describes the meaning and function of the concept and feeling of the body and mind in The vedanā sutta(SN:36) and Mahasatipaṭṭhāna Sutta(D:22). This study compares with the concept of feeling as "body map". For the Buddha and Antonio Damasio, the body and the mind are in harmony. These body become twins in which matter and spirit represent and resemble each other. Thus, the body expands to the mind and it becomes embodiment. Feelings are located at the boundary between the body and mind and become the basis of the mind. The important thing is that our thoughts and actions are unconsciously affected by feelings. vipassanā leads us not craving(taṇhā) but Noble Eightfold Path (ariyo aṭṭhaṅgiko maggo) or enriches our hearts to choose an artistic and philosophical life and it is a self-healing method that provides insight into ourselves as we are. If vipassanā is embodied in our way of life, we will be able to continue to create the culture of not only healthy individual but also solidarity communities.
